Athlone sits at the crossing point of Ireland, roughly ninety minutes from Dublin, Shannon, and Knock airports alike. Dublin Airport offers by far the widest choice of routes and is the default for most travellers. Shannon is often quicker for transatlantic flights and has US pre-clearance for departures. Knock — Ireland West Airport — is the smallest and calmest of the three, and excellent for UK and European connections.

All three are around ninety minutes from Athlone and share the same €225 starting fare, so the choice can be made on flight schedule and price rather than on transfer cost. We are happy to advise if you are still deciding.
